HIP ACHIEVES THE BREEAM SUSTAINABILITY CERTIFICATE WITH A “VERY GOOD” RATING FOR THIRTEEN OF ITS HOTELS

• This international reference seal allows evaluating the degree of environmental sustainability of any type of construction (new or existing) taking into account its use

• The certified hotels, all located in Spain, have achieved the “very good” rating. The Canary Islands archipelago stands out with eight assets with the BREEAM seal

• The company plans to certify its entire portfolio of hotels in the coming years as the transformation plan for its assets progresses.

Barcelona, ​​January 25, 2022.- Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), Blackstone's hotel investment company and the leading hotel owner in southern Europe, has achieved BREEAM sustainability certification, with a “very good” rating, for 13 of its hotels in Spain (attached table certified hotels). Thus, a total of 4,109 rooms already have this international reference sustainability seal in the field of buildability.

In this way, HIP becomes the hotel owner in our country with the largest number of rooms with sustainability certification. The Canary Islands, where HIP has the highest percentage of assets in its portfolio, achieves the BREEAM seal for eight of its hotels, 2,982 rooms rated "very good" in sustainability criteria. The Ritz-Carlton Abama in Tenerife, operated by Marriott, the Barceló Fuerteventura Mar or the Dreams Jardín Tropical managed by Apple Leisure Group® (ALG), are some of the hotels that have achieved this prestigious award.

For its part, in the Balearic Islands, the rooms (104) with the sustainability seal are from the Zoetry Sa Torre hotel, which is operated by Apple Leisure Group® (ALG). The rest of the certifications correspond to hotels located on the peninsula, two of them in Malaga: AC Málaga and Occidental Torremolinos which, together with Axel Madrid and ME Sitges add another 1,023 “very good” rooms.

The company plans to certify its entire hotel portfolio with the BREEAM seal in the coming years as the plan to reposition its assets progresses.
